Richard Orr, started plying full time in1976. Working with Mharlyn Merrritt. Later moving into more creative
opportunities with Tradewinds, Freeflight & The Richard Orr Quartet, Richard has also done the Rock scene
with bands like Jitterbops, King Rhythm & Johnston Brothers. He’s been involved with many styles of music,
Blues Bands like, Kitty Mayo, Lit Brothers & The Buick’s, Big Band Phil Giordano, Dave Chaiken. World Beat
Siembra -played in New York, New Orleans, Washington D.C., and Philly, Salsa Orchestra Jare, La Muella.
Dixieland Big Easy Dixieland Band, and the Paul Grant Band at the Showboat in AC among many others.Have opened for Wynton & Bradford Marsalis at Kool Jazz Festival with Siembra, with Sun Ra, & Jack Dejohnette. Also creator and director of The Beside The Point Band, a ten piece jazz saxophone choir with rhythm section. Most recently backed up the Four Tops in November of 06 in Wilmington. Also played with groups led by Courtney Colletti, Tony Juliano. Played with Swing Shift and Sid Miller Orchestra. Plus being with Eulipian & Havana Fusion , Richard has had an outstanding career on the Philly scene for over thirty years.
